The Ms. Mimiko story
A lifelong fascination with faces became a new kind of patch.
Toute Nuit began with one woman’s curiosity: could a wrinkle patch be more comfortable, more precise, and designed around the way real faces move?
Ms. Mimiko • Founder + product developer
美々子 — “beautiful person”
Tokyo, Japan
Fascinated by faces from the beginning.
Born and raised in Tokyo, Ms. Mimiko developed a passion for drawing faces at a young age. Those drawings later became the hand-illustrated women on Toute Nuit packaging—a direct line from her eye as an artist to the product customers recognize today.
The face on the package was drawn by the founder herself.
Artistry + skincare
From makeup artist to product developer.
After studying women’s history and culture at Seijo University, Ms. Mimiko worked at a Japanese advertising agency before training in makeup artistry in Los Angeles. She returned to Japan as a freelance makeup artist on major television commercials, became a certified esthetician, and consulted for the French skincare house Orlane.
“I never stopped thinking about how a better wrinkle patch could work.”
The long idea
Decades of curiosity. One determined beginning.
-
Early inspiration
Her mother struggled with an uncomfortable Hollywood-style wrinkle patch. The problem stayed with her.
-
Experimentation
Years later, she began testing different tapes and sharing early versions with family and friends.
-
2013 • Age 63
She formally began developing a business, working with a Japanese tape manufacturer on shapes and materials.
-
April 2014
Toute Nuit—meaning “every night”—launched in Japan with three original patch shapes.
-
July 2015
On her 65th birthday, Ms. Mimiko brought Toute Nuit to the United States.
Designed in Japan • Made in the USA
Precision was the product idea.
Rather than one large mask or a rigid paper patch, Ms. Mimiko developed an assortment of shapes that could follow different facial lines and contours. The current patches use a transparent, medical-grade adhesive tape, with patches and packaging manufactured in Pennsylvania.
Observe
Begin with the way expression actually moves across the face.
Draw
Design a silhouette for the line, contour, or area—not an abstract one-size solution.
Refine
Keep the material light, transparent, perforated, and comfortable enough to repeat nightly.
The founder as the first customer
A ritual practiced before it became a brand.
Ms. Mimiko says she began using her own wrinkle-patch routine at age 30 and has continued the practice throughout her life. Toute Nuit grew from a personal ritual into a system she could share with others seeking a gentle, affordable, non-invasive option.
